We understand the pressure students are under and have been working closely to lobby the University on matters such as a rent rebate for those students who cannot currently access University accommodation, and a safety net to ensure that academic results are not adversely affected by the pandemic.
Please be assured that tuition fee refunds is very much on our agenda and we are working with the University on the issue. This is not something that Universities have the funds to be able to provide currently and our feeling is that unless there is movement from the UK government, this will continue to be the case. We have written to our local MP, Angela Richardson, to express the views of students, and we advise all students to do the same by writing to her and also your local MP if you are currently not living in Guildford. Nationally there are ongoing discussions between the Union President, Union CEO and other Union leaders nationally on how we can work together to secure fee refunds for students. We will keep all students updated via our website and social media channels with any news.
In the meantime please do use the MySurrey Voice platform to provide feedback on any specific issues you are facing with your studies and also to contact your course rep who is elected to represent your interests on your specific area of study.
